Our Story
SLOWE Living began during the pandemic when our founder Oliver Murphy, an Industrial and Graphic designer, returned to working more with his hands to solve a personal furniture challenge that he couldn't find a solution for: creating an attractive, durable, and functional sofa bed for his small, multifunctional space.
Using his art direction background, the company aesthetic draws on Oliver's experiences living in Tokyo, Copenhagen and Switzerland, combined with a deep love for records, subculture, 1970s LA mid-century Modernism, and 1990s Japanese industrial design. Read the full story
Our Production
Instead of overproducing, we focus on crafting timeless, functional products designed to accompany you throughout life, eliminating the need for multiple temporary solutions. By producing in manageable quantities, we ensure each item serves as a lifelong investment.
Collaborating with partners who value a mindful business approach and prioritise quality craftsmanship, we manufacture our products just 200 meters from one of Cornwall's best surf breaks, reflecting a more gentle approach to manufacturing (and living) amongst our hyper-paced world. We hope to redefine comfort in design by embracing a gentler approach to manufacturing and living. Inspired by architects, artists, surfers, and thinkers across counter-culture who followed their intuition, we share stories of those who choose a more relaxed and fulfilling path in work and life on their own terms.
